Water Ring Pelletizer

Product Description

In water ring pelletizers, the cooling and transport medium, water, does not come into contact with the die plate. The circulating knives cut the melt strands and fling the hot molten pellets into the circulating water ring. The water flow conveys the pellets out of the pelletizer hood.

This system includes water ring pelletizer, water circulating system, centrifugal dewater and vibrating classifier.

Molten polymer from an extruder, melt pump or other pressure generating processor, is fed into the die head. Once inside, the material is evenly distributed to and passed through an annular die plate hole pattern. A rotating knife cuts the hot material as it exits the die hole and casts the pellets into a ring of cooling water. The pellet slurry is then fed from the cooling chamber through a trough or underwater conveying system to a high speed impact dryer, where the water is effectively separated from the pellet production. The water is fed back to a recirculating tank and the dry pellets are discharged to a suitable conveying system or container.
